    Marching Band
Congratulations to the marching band on sweeping 1st place in class 1A on Saturday at East Burke! That concludes the competitive portion of marching band. We just have two Christmas parades in Ranlo and Dallas.

    Concert Band
Students in concert band will be receiving new music this week. Instead of weekly practice charts, there will be weekly playing assignments in Google Classroom. These must be recorded and submitted through Classroom. Students can do this at home or in the band room during Enrichment or before/after school.

Our first concert of the year is next Tuesday, November 7 at 7pm. Students need to report at 6pm. Dress for concerts is slightly different this year. Please see the excerpt from the handbook below.

Men:  Black, long-sleeve dress shirt, black dress pants, long tie (no bow ties), black socks, black dress shoes

Women:  Black dress pants with black button-down blouse or long black dress, black dress shoes

    Veterans Day Parade

Students in the marching band have the option of marching in the Gastonia Veterans Day Parade. Band members from each GCS high school combine to form one band for the parade. Students are responsible for their own transportation and will need to bring their instrument and uniform to the parade. We do not take a bus or the band trailer. Those who wish to participate should sign up on bulletin board outside the band room. Students will meet at The Shrimp Boat at 9:30. The parade begins at 11am and ends around noon near the elementary campus of Piedmont Community Charter.

  • Director's Update - 10/25/17
Here's the schedule for the remainder of the week.

    Thursday
Students need to bring their full uniform to school Thursday morning for pictures. We will have individual and group shots taken. Pictures will be taken beginning at 2:30. Highland students should plan to check out no later than 2:00 so they can get here in time. We will begin with the group shot at 2:30 and then have individual pictures after that. Students will change out of uniform as soon as their individual shot is done and then get ready for after school practice. After school practice will end at the normal time.

    Friday
We will be going to the game at Ashbrook on Friday. The schedule is linked below.
    Saturday
Our last contest of the season is at East Burke HS on Saturday. I have heard from a couple of students that they are taking the Driver's Ed class on Saturday. We are leaving the school at 1:45 and the class does not end until 2:30. If your student is in this class, you will need to bring them to East Burke HS immediately after the class ends. They need to be dressed when they arrive at East Burke because we will be starting warm-up about the time you get there. Please let me know if your student is taking this class. The schedule for Saturday is linked below.
