Yearbook/Journalism

Goals for the course:

Journalism is a survey of the basic concepts of reporting and non-fiction writing. Students will encounter various article formats and work towards developing their voice using various writing styles. They will uncover the history of journalism and speculate on the direction that the profession will take in the future. They will discuss journalistic ethics and think critically about this noble bias in reporting. Students will be grounded in the major traditions, celebrated journalists, and professional integrity of the discipline.

- Students are required to sell advertisements to raise funds for publishing.

- Students will learn to use and become familiar with Adobe InDesign (program used to publish).


Journalism is both a business and a class.

As a part of the business, students must raise funds to publish. Students sell ad space to local businesses and accept donations from other people in the community.
