North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) is the online course provider for public schools in North Carolina and is governed through the NCVPS organization and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  NCVPS courses are available during the regular school day and beyond the regular day.  (Please note: GCS does cannot provide new courses for credit during the summer, which includes NCVPS courses)

All entrance requirements, grading practices, course content, and course assignments are governed through NCVPS.  Courses offered through NCVPS are not intended to supplant course offerings already available in the local high schools.  Permission to take courses offered in a traditional setting through NCVPS due to schedule conflicts and extenuating circumstances is the principal's decision.  It is recommended that students be allowed to take no more than three NCPVS courses in one semester, however, the number of NCVPS courses a student is allowed to take is left to the discretion of the high school principal.  Under normal circumstances, students are expected to be scheduled for 4 periods per day.
