Please make all efforts to be in class for the following critical practice days and for final exams. Any final exams taken late may not be graded prior to the AP test on May 2nd. There are only 13 class periods left before the AP test. I will work as hard and effectively as possible to get you ready for the test so your attendance is paramount to achieving your goals.
Thursday, April 13th: Last practice day in computer lab for both the two minute cultural comparison speech and the simulated telephone call.
Tuesday, April 18th: Final exam component: Persuasive essay.
Thursday, April 20th: Strategies for simulated phone calls and cultural comparisons
Monday, April 24th: Optional lunch time Spanish warm ups for speaking finals. In class: Comparison speech final and simulated telephone call final.
Tuesday, April 25th: Reading and listening final day 1
Thursday, April 27th: Finish reading and listening final (approx 30 more minutes). Review key strategies for AP test
Friday, April 28th: Last day prior to AP exam. Receive back speaking finals and scored reading and listening finals, get final feedback, create a strategies plan for the test. Put a reminder in your phone for Pencils, Pens, snacks, test start time!!!!
Lunes: Libro: Lectura p.355 "Expulsados". Tarea: Responde a las preguntas de comprensión p. 358 Act. 1.
Martes: Discutimos la tarea. En clase: Lectura pg. 364-365 Tarea: usa los documentos abajo para preparar por un día en el lab el jueves.
Jueves: Lee p. 362 sobre los árabes en Paraguay. Responde con un solo párafo para clase mañana. Next, download and read the AP Persuasive Examples document below and put into Noteability. Do the following to be check off 1) Read through rubric to refamiliarize yourself with what you need to do. 2) Read through the first student example essay. This one received a 5. Notice the key components and highlight them: a. thesis statement b. direct and indirect references to sources c. evidence to support claim d. transition words e. counter-claim if available 2) Next, scroll past the next two student samples and read the AP scorer's comments on the paper. Return to do the same with the second two student samples. It is helpful to read the commentary down below on these as well, because by reading what the AP scorer's comments are about what is lacking, you can determine what is critical for your essay.
