研究主題
我們實驗室主要的研究方向是探討微生物致病機轉與宿主免疫反應,並開發有效之治療藥物。研究之微生物主題包含:幽門螺旋桿菌(Helicobacter pylori)、空腸彎曲桿菌(Campylobacter jejuni)、鏈球菌(Streptococcus pneumoniae)、嗜血桿菌(Haemophilus influenzae)等常見致病菌與免疫細胞之相互作用及導致感染疾病。此外,我們也探討細菌毒素(bacterial toxin)和腸道微生物相(gut microbiota)與感染症、癌症生物學及轉譯醫學之相關,希望能將研究成果應用於臨床之治療。近年來,我們實驗室也研究空氣污染(PM2.5、塑膠微粒、碳黑)對呼吸道感染、宿主免疫防禦和微生物相的影響。我們非常歡迎對感染免疫學及癌症生物學領域有興趣的大學部專題生、碩、博班研究生一起參與實驗室的研究。
Research interest
Infection and immunity
Our current studies are focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms of several bacterial components involved in the bacteria-induced pathogenesis of the host. We have explored specific virulence factors that play a role in the immune response triggered by Helicobacter pylori. Additionally, we are conducting functional studies on the cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) secreted by Campylobacter jejuni, and exploring its theranostic applications in our laboratory. In recent years, our laboratory has also studied the impact of air pollution (PM2.5, microplastics, carbon black) on respiratory infections, host immune defense, and alteration of microbiota compositions.
Cancer biology and translational medicine
We have conducted investigations into potent drugs targeting various types of cancers and explored their molecular mechanisms. Our laboratory is dedicated to discovering and characterizing novel agents aimed at inhibiting tumor cells. Additionally, we have recently collaborated with physicians in the field of translational medicine research. Our research interests encompass gut microbiota, infectious diseases, and cancer biology, and these areas have been established within our collaborative teams.
