E-rate Program
Erate is a Federal program under the FCC run by the Universal Service Administration Corporation that provides discounts to Schools and Libraries in an efforts to increase pervasive connectivity and access to the Internet. Riverhead Schools takes part in Erate to obtain discounts on Internet and Wide Area Network services as well as other eligible product as services as needed. Riverhead Central Schools current discount/reimbursement rate is 80% due to our Free and Reduced lunch percentage residing between 50% and 74%.

Current Erate Projects for FY2019
Category 1
Internet Connectivity- Currently, the Riverhead Central School District is under contract for Bundled Internet/Voice Services with Lightpath until 2020.
WAN Services- Currently, the Riverhead Central School District is under contract with Eastern Suffolk BOCES until 2021.
Category 2
Network Infrastructure Upgrade
Riverhead Central School District currently uses decade-old Cisco Switches and Routers to support both instructional and administrative wired connectivity needs.
With this project, we are looking to upgrade the Core network switches in each of our buildings.
These new switches will need to be 100% compatible with our existing Cisco Access switches as many of these will continue to be in service during and after the upgrade.
In addition to compatibility with existing Cisco Equipment, we also would like to upgrade all inter-closet connection to 10Gbps from 1Gbps(All conditioning cables, GBICs, and converters needed for the project should be included.

Wireless Network Expansion
Riverhead Central School District currently uses HP Aruba Wireless Controllers and Access Points to support both the administrative and instructional wireless needs in each building.
With this project, we are looking to add access points to our transportation area to replace all access points in Phillps Avenue Elementary school.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies
Riverhead Central School District currently uses a combination of Tripplite and Eaton UPS units to provide online power to our servers, network switches, Layer 3 routers, Firewalls, Power Over Ethernet adapters, storage arrays, SAN switches, CCTV equipment, and IPT equipment. UPS's do NOT need to include cooling units.
With this project, we are looking to replace UPS units as needed while reusing components like SNMP Environmental units specific to Tripplite.
