I joined the OFHS faculty most recently in 1999 (I also taught for one year during the 1991-92 school year). During my career I have taught U.S. History and Government & Law, in addition to my current assignments: Applied Economics I (micro), Applied Economics II (macro), Advanced Placement European History, Comparative African American Studies, and Honors World History.
In my life before teaching I was a sports writer and photographer for a small newspaper in Brookings, Oregon. I graduated from Medford Senior High School, Medford, Oregon, 1979; Urbana University, B.A., 1988; Cleveland State University, M.A., 2003.
I live in Oberlin with my wife, Jill. I have two children, Quincy and Will, two cats, and four chickens. Among the many things I enjoy: Photography, cycling, watercolor painting, playing guitar, piano, banjo, created electronic music, and building stuff from wood like medieval English longbows, ukuleles, and abstract art.Â
