The focus of the OFCS Technology Department is to emphasize the skills and qualities we want for students, enabling them to engage and thrive in a connected, digital world. We have chosen to use the ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education) standards to help guide our technology expectations.
Student Expectations for Digital Citizenship:
Communicate in a way that is kind, in order to create a positive digital footprint.
Use school-appropriate language, images and videos.
Ensure proper permission to write or share about others, including any photos or images.
Protect others by reporting threatening or offensive materials to a teacher or administrator and not forwarding inappropriate materials or communications.
Remember that inappropriate use of this device may result in discipline.
Student Expectations While Using OFCS Device:
Keep all passwords and login information secure. If your login is compromised, report it to school staff.
Device should only be used by the student to whom it is issued and with their own school account.
Respect other people’s files and information. If someone else has left a file open on any device, alert a staff member.
Leave the settings, applications and software as they are unless your teacher directs otherwise.
Follow the OFCS Student Acceptable Use and Safety guidelines.
Only use the device for school-related purposes.
Student Expectations for OFCS Device Care:
Do not remove the OFCS asset tag or place additional stickers, labels, tags or markings of any kind to the device.
Treat the device with care by:
Keeping it in a secure or supervised location and know where it is at all times.
Do not loan it to others.
Keep the vents, keyboard, and screen clear of objects that could harm the device.
Keep the device away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
Carefully insert cords, cables, etc.
Keep it in the school provided protective case if issued.
Bring the device to school every day, charged.
Return the device when requested and upon withdrawal from OFCS.
Parent Guardian Expectations/Responsibility:
Parent/guardians assume full responsibility for replacing the equipment if it is lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair. Please understand that this device is to be used by your students only and only for school purposes. Please review the OFCS Student Acceptable Use and Safety guidelines with your student.
You may participate in the OPTIONAL OFCS Technology Protection Plan on an annual basis.
