Steps for Completing your Application through ApplyTexas
1. Go to ApplyTexas to complete your application for Texas 2-year colleges, 4-year universities, and some private universities.
2. There are ESSAYS that need to be completed and uploaded onto the application. DO NOT CREATE THEM ON THE APPLYTEXAS WEBSITE! Use a word processing program that has a SPELL/GRAMMAR CHECK and then copy and paste the essay into the application.
Essay A: Tell us your story. What unique opportunities or challenges have you experienced throughout your high school career that have shaped who you are today?
Essay B: Most students have an identity, an interest, or a talent that defines them in an essential way. Tell us about yourself.
Essay C: You’ve got a ticket in your hand – Where will you go? What will you do? What will happen when you get there?
3. Go to the College Board or ACT websites and request that your SAT or ACT scores be sent to the colleges or universities.
4. Request that a copy of your official high school transcript be sent to the colleges and universities. Students must make this request through their SchooLinks account. They can follow these instructions.
5. If there is a scholarship application included on the ApplyTexas application for the college or university you are applying, then complete the scholarship application at the same time.
6. Males 18 years of age and older MUST register with Selective Service. It is the LAW and required to be eligible to receive Financial Aid.
7. Pay the application fee! Check with your Academic and Career Advisor to see if you qualify for a waiver fee.
