Welcome!
I’m so excited for this school year and can’t wait to dive into all the fun and learning we have ahead! I’ll be teaching Math, Spelling, and Science to both my homeroom and Ms. Duty’s class this year. This is my 11th year teaching 5th grade at Purefoy, and my 23rd year in education overall. Before joining Frisco ISD, I taught 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades in Lewisville ISD for 12 years. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership (Boomer Sooner!).
A little about me—I live in Frisco with my family. My 11-year-old son, Colt, will be in 8th grade this year at Griffin Middle School. When I’m not teaching, I love watching Colt play sports, catching a movie, shopping, and spending quality time with friends and family.
My goal this year is to make 5th grade an unforgettable, exciting final year of elementary school for your child! I want them to have fun while learning, and I’m committed to helping them grow both academically and personally. 5th graders will be challenged to think critically, explore new ideas, and tackle problems with creativity and confidence.
I’m looking forward to building a strong, supportive community with you and your child. If you ever need anything or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at thrasherm@friscoisd.org.
Here’s to an amazing school year!
