ABC’s of Second Grade
A is for attendance. Please make sure your child attends school when possible. If they are out for a doctor's appointment, please send in a note when they return.
B is for birthdays! No food or drink items are allowed when celebrating birthdays.We will sing "Happy Birthday" in the classroom and they will be able to get a birthday tag for their key chain from the office. Please do not send "goodie bags" or other toys to pass out. Save those for the Birthday Parties! Thank you for your understanding! Please see the Parent Handbook for more information.
C is for conference. Our conference time is from 10:00-10:45. You may schedule a conference by emailing your child's teacher.
D is for dismissal. School ends at 3:05. If your child is a car rider, please be sure to use your car rider window sign to assist in a speedier pick-up. If your child is a car-pooler, please be sure to use your car pool window sign.
E is for e-mail. Please feel free to contact your student’s teacher using their email address.
F is for Friday. On Friday, we have Good Morning Purefoy. When your child is going to be recognized for the Character award we will contact you by email. You will be able to attend GMP to see your child receive their award. You will also be able to attend GMP when your child's class performs.
G is for going home. It is VERY important that you send a note or email your child's teacher BEFORE 12:00 pm if your child will be going home a different way than usual. If there is a change in pick-up after 12:00 pm, please call the office (469-633-3875), so they can deliver the message to your child’s teacher.
H is for homework. Please have your child read nightly for 20 minutes. This really helps build their fluency and love for reading. Spelling words will be introduced at school on Mondays. Please practice spelling words each week with your child.
I is for illness. Please do not send your child to school when he/she is ill. Attendance is important, but so is your child’s health.
J is for jackets. Please make sure that your child’s name is inside of his/her jacket. This will be very important when cold weather comes our way!
K is for keeping up with belongings. Throughout the school year your child will be bringing home guided reading books and other school materials. It is important that your child treat these items the way that he/she would want others to treat their things.
L is for lunch. Our class will go to lunch this year from 11:30-12:00. You are welcome to eat with your child by signing up on the lunch sign up sent out in Mrs. Robertson's weekly emails.
M is for materials. Each student is responsible for bringing their supplies by the first day of school. From time to time, materials could be requested for donation for various projects and activities in the classroom.
N is for notes. If your child is absent, please write a note or get a doctor's note and send it to school on the day that your child returns. Also, please sign & return any notes that your child's teacher sends home if indicated.
O is for online lunch payments. You can add money to your child’s account by going to the Frisco ISD homepage. That address is www.friscoisd.org.
P is for parties. There are three class parties each year, Winter Party, Valentine Party and End of School Party. These parties always start at 1:50 on the designated day and families are welcome to attend.
Q is for questions. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask, call or e-mail your child's teacher!
R is for reading. Please be sure that your child reads every night! Guided reading books from our classroom libraries and/or school library will start coming home after the beginning of year assessments are completed.
S is for snack. This is something that must be provided by you for your child. Please send a healthy mess-free snack, such as fruit or crackers with your child each day. Our snack time will be held in the morning. Candy is not a snack and will be asked to be saved until lunch time. All drinks must be in a sports bottle with a close-able top.
T is for technology. The application of technology will be incorporated into our daily routine. We will be using Chromebooks and teaching digital citizenship.
U is for understanding. Please understand that each child is an individual who learns at his/her own pace.
V is for volunteering. We appreciate the help and encouragement from volunteers.
W is for website. There is a lot of good information on here! We will update it often!
X is for x-tra. Your child is x-tra special to us!
Y is for you. You play an important role in his/her education.
Z is for zip. We need to make the most of everyday because this year will zip on by!
