Hi, 

My name is Melissa Shiflet and I'm so happy to be teaching at Phillips Elementary. I graduated from the University of North Texas and have been teaching for 21 years. This will be my fifth year in FISD. Over the years, I have taught preschool, kindergarten, first grade, and third grade. I love to watch volleyball and baseball games, read, spend time with my family, and go on walks with my dog. 

I have two incredible kids! My son, Cole, is a missions director and his wife, Courtney, is a speech- language pathologist. My daughter, Bailey, is starting her second year as a kindergarten teacher!! I’m very passionate about helping my students to be successful and I absolutely LOVE teaching kindergarten!
