Cluster 1
Matter, Force, Motion, Energy
8/13 - 11/21
Week of 10/13 - 10/17
Monday: 5.7B Day 3
Tuesday: 5.7B Day 4
Wednesday: 5.7B Day 1 Engage: Effects of Force on Objects
Thursday: 5.7B Day 2 Explore/Explain
Friday: No School (Parent Teacher Conference)
You can view all of these lessons below.
5.7A Forces and Patterns of Motion (SS)
Students investigate and explain how equal and unequal forces acting on an object cause patterns of motion and transfer of energy.
5.7A Properties of Matter (SS) 5.7A INTERACTIVE SLIDES
Vocabulary:
force: a push or a pull, which may cause a change in an object’s motion
motion: a change of position of an object
balanced/equal forces: forces that cancel each other out because they are equal in size and opposite in direction
unbalanced/unequal forces: forces that cause a change in an object’s motion because they don’t cancel each other out
energy transfer/flow of energy: the movement of energy from place to place or from one object to another
gravity: a force that attracts all objects in the universe towards one another; near Earth’s surface, a force that pulls things toward the center of Earth.
friction: a force that happens when two things rub against each other.
5.7B Effects of Forces on Objects (RS)
Students investigate and explain how equal and unequal forces acting on an object cause patterns of motion and transfer of energy.
5.7B Effects of Force on Objects (RS) 5.7B INTERACTIVE SLIDES

friction: a force that happens when two things rub against each other.
investigation: determine a cause and effect relationship between two things ran by trials.
magnetism: a force that can pull certain objects, like iron or steel, toward a magnet.
