My name is Mary Gibson and I’m so pleased to be returning to Fifth Grade for my 9th year at Isbell. My husband and I moved to Frisco from Grand Prairie in 2017, as he had been employed in Frisco for several years already. We have enjoyed getting to know the people and the area. We have two older sons and 3 wonderful grandchildren. Our two Cavapoo puppies (Zeke and Willow) keep us busy.
My early years were spent growing up in Sitka, Alaska, which is an adventure I love to share with students as the year progresses. When I moved to Texas, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Education from Southwestern Assemblies of God University and later my master’s degree in Education Administration from the Dallas Baptist University. I hold a certification as principal and served as an assistant principal for several years before deciding to return to my first love, teaching! I have been in education for 30+years and I love helping children develop and grow as learners.
The joy of teaching children never gets old. We will have a great year working collaboratively as readers, writers, and thinkers. The readers’ and writers’ workshop model is an excellent way for students to become independent and successful in literacy skills. 5th grade is a pivotal year and I am dedicated to making it a successful year for your child.
I believe that it is best for the classroom teacher and the parents to form a partnership in educating children. Always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns. I look forward to an exciting year of growth!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mary Gibson, M.Ed
