Counselor Responsibilities

I am here to help students, parents, teachers and administrators. My goal is to help students so that they can achieve their greatest academic success. I perform a number of duties in order to achieve my goal. My direct interaction with students occurs in classroom guidance lessons, small group lessons and meeting with a student on an individual basis.

Classroom Guidance

Once a month I visit all the classrooms to present a lesson based on the guidelines. The kids will tell you that I talk to them about a variety of topics that include problem solving, goal setting, responsibility, cooperation, drugs, goals, college, friends, bullying and the list goes on! The complete list can be found on the link above. Sometimes a teacher might request that I talk with a class to help with a special issue and I am always happy to do that.

Small Groups

Small groups or lunch bunch groups are another way that I interact with kids. We meet to discuss a topic of interest to that group. We have a great time! You will receive more information on those groups as the year starts!

Individual Guidance

I do meet individually with students to help them through an issue or situation. It is important to keep in mind that school counselors do no provide therapy. Remember that my goal is to help students with academic success and issues that could interfere with that classroom success. If your child is experiencing an issue that affects them outside of school, I have a variety of resources that may help!
