Meet Ms. Mattay

Hello!  My name is Dana Mattay and this will be my eleventh year at Gunstream as the counselor.  I have been a school counselor for a total of seventeen years.  I previously taught special education for six years in elementary and middle school.  I absolutely LOVE working at Gunstream!  The staff, students and parents are wonderful and Frisco is an amazing community!

I was born in Dallas and take great pride in being a native Texan.  I attended Texas Tech University and have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with a focus on Children and Family Studies.  I got my Masters in School Counseling in 2002 from Texas A&M Commerce. 

My children, are Mason (23) and Megan (20). Both of my children attended Centennial High School. Mason graduated in 2021 and Megan graduated in 2023 and they are attending Texas Tech. WRECK 'EM!!! We are BIG sports fans and love spending time going to sporting events!  We LOVE the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavs and Stars and we are HUGE Red Raider fans!   We have three dogs that are our babies!  Maverick is our 5 year old Labrador,  Elsa is our 10 year old Great Dane and Buster is our 3 year old Labradane. 

As the school counselor, I provide guidance to all classrooms, conduct small group counseling and work individually with students and parents.   I am really excited for this school year and look forward to spending time with your children!
