Guidance Lessons: I will visit each classroom at least once a month to share lessons such as goal setting, decision making, managing feelings, anti-victimization, anti-bullying, college/career awareness, appreciating diversity, peer relationships, problem solving and personal safety, and substance abuse education. Please see the following link for more detailed information regarding the FISD elementary guidance program. http://www.friscoisd.org/ly/departments/GuidanceCounseling/guidanceK-5.htm
Group Counseling is a small guidance group that meets to practice skills for learning such as manners, managing feelings, positive relationships, and among others. Parents or staff may refer students for participation in small groups. Once a group begins, it will meet 4-5 times.
Individual Counseling: I am able to offer short term, solution-focused counseling sessions for students. We usually meet 4-5 times during the school year.
I value my role as a support to students and co-collaborator with staff and parents to ensure your child's daily success. If your child is experiencing challenges that are impacting their success at school, or a particular concern arises, I hope that you will let me know. I will be available to meet with your child individually or in a small group setting with other children. I want your child's elementary experience to be one where they feel safe, loved, and successful! Feel free to contact me at mattayd@friscoisd.org or call 469.633.3104.
Sincerely,
Dana Mattay
