Reading Programs

The Texas Bluebonnet Reading Program:  The TBA Committee selects 20 books - including fiction and nonfiction.  Readers in grades 3-5 who have read a minimum of five titles can vote on their favorite book in January.  It's Read 5 then Decide!  The winning author is announced in April at the Texas Library Association.  Click here for this year's list of books.

2x2 Reading Program:  The 2x2 Reading List is a Children's Round table project, a unit of the Texas Library Association.  The 2x2 Committee produces a list of 20 recommended books for children, age two to grade two.  Click here for this year's books.

Many of this year's 2x2 books will be read to students in Kindergarten through grade 2 during library visits in our reading room.

Students in grades K-2 will voted for their favorite books in March.

The Carroll Library Crew: This program is for 4th and 5th graders who want to volunteer in the library.  Students come during their recess time once a week to shelve books.  As a thank you, Library Crew members are the first students to checkout new library books!

More information will be available right before Labor Day.

Birthday Book Club:  Celebrate your reader's birthday by joining the Birthday Book Club!  To join, click here to contribute $15.00, and be sure to note that your contribution is for the Birthday Book Club and include the student's name.  When I receive an email about your contribution, I will bring your student to the library to choose a favorite book.  I will place a bookplate with your reader's name in the front of the book.  The book will remain the library.
