The Nile - a Poem

Here are the five gifts of the Nile

Ponder them for a mighty long while!

There were flood waters with lots of yummy silt

And water during dry summers for irrigation systems they built

The other three gifts can wait a while.

No, wait, let's not tarry

Travelers and trade the Nile did carry.

Papyrus for paper and boats grew along the banks

And the protein rich fish and birds smelled rank!
