National Geographic Geography Bee
Thank you for registering for the National Geographic Geography Bee! We are excited to introduce this competition for our middle school students. Preparation for the bee is done at home - there is no time at school devoted to studying for the bee. This competition is completely separate from the social studies classes. Study suggestions are available on the National Geographic Society website. In addition, there are published study guides for sale at Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble. The bee questions are taken from all the geographies; physical, cultural, historical, United States geography, and world geography.
For sample questions and more information on the geography bee, visit the Geo Bee's website at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee/
The geography bee, prepared by the National Geographic Society, consists of seven rounds to determine semi-finalists, then additional rounds leading to a school finalist. The qualifying exam is used to select the top 100 finishers from each state. Winning students continue to participate up to the final national-level contest held in Washington DC for scholarships of $10,000 $25,000 and $50,000.
