Y can make 3 sounds. Check out the video below. Can your child find sneaky "y" words in their nightly reading, this is a great way to do a warm up before starting your 15 mins of reading.
Make a list together after reading as an extension activity!
Procedural Writing
Transition words are:
First, Next, Then, After, Later, Finally, Lastly etc...
This help us organize our writing and bring clarity to it. We can use this transition words to explain how to do something or talk about the order of events.
Can your child use these words to create a 4-6 sentence paragraph explaining how to do something (like make hot chocholate or make their bed), talk about their week at school or hockey game etc...
Information writing- shares information
Gives a topic of interest and shares what informationw as learned followed by a opionion or closing.
Can your child read a informational book and share what they learned by coming up with a title, introduction sentence, share 2-3 facts and then provide a closing sentence (can be their opinion on the topic).
This is the template we use in class.
