5 Finger Reading Rule

When selecting books for reading we use the 5 Finger Rule. You may chose to use this strategy when selecting books with your child.

Don't forget to check for understanding when reading together by asking questions like:

• What happened in the story? Can you tell me the events in order?
• The 5 Ws (who/what/when/where/why)
• What would happen if........?
• Why do you think that....?
