* QUIZ Playing quizzes are given many times throughout the year to assess students playing skills. Students are assessed on: Posture; Tone; Rhythm; Musical Style; and Reading Notation.
* Standard Based Grading also includes students' class preparation & attitude toward learning.
* CLASS PREPARATION Students are required to bring their instrument, book/folder, & pencil to each class. If the instrument or music is forgotten, parent/guardian & student receive a Positive Class Participation email as an assistance for student's organization.
* CONCERTS Performing is quite fun! After all the practice, the band shares their music with the audience. This is a very rewarding experience for the students & their families! Concerts are curricular events for a quiz grade. Tell your coaches, dance instructors, etc in advance of each concert date. Students who miss the concert will have a graded assignment. See tab of Rehearsal/Concerts for attire.
Review the SE-B WIN Music Rubric [Link] to demonstrate the behaviors of a successful band student. Page 2 of the document is a reflection paper.
* CLASS Students receive music for 45-minute for 2 days each week in multi-instrument classes. One set of classes meet Monday & Wednesday. Another set of classes meet Tuesday & Thursday.

* PRACTICE Play the music learned in class at home. Students are to practice 15 minutes, 3 days each week for successful learning to take place. Practicing more than 3 days each week makes improvement happen quicker.
