Jo Anna S. Rieger
At the age of five I opened my first school, or I should say a make-shift school room nestled in the back corner of our cold, unfinished basement. I had eight imaginary students. My parents were both educators and instilled their love of teaching into my own life. A high school art teacher fostered my passion for creativity. I have fulfilled a dream by merging these two areas of life into one career- being an art teacher.
I believe we were created to create in community. After 29 years of teaching, I never lose awe of the transformation and healing fostered through art making. I have taught every medium, to all ages, in Venezuela, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I am blessed to work with the most amazing artists at Fenton High School. It is my joy to teach students to see the world through a new lens and watch them impact society via the art they make.
