Cassville High School

Brant Gille

I really enjoy working with this age group because as a teacher, you get to see the students begin to mature into young adults. You also get to see them start to branch out and find out what really interests them and what they think they might want to do when they grow up and graduate from high school. I started in Cassville in December of 2019, but I can already tell how heartwarming it is to see one of your students walk across that stage to receive their diploma. Knowing I had a part in their success as well being a frontrunner for pushing them to focus on post secondary transitions warms my heart. Everyday I try to get them to see the importance of school, and why failure and success will point them to what they ultimately want to do with their lives. Whether that means them becoming a welder, farmer, doctor, or of course my favorite, a teacher (: In my short time we have tried to focus on transitions by including DVR whenever applicable and by showing the students real life situations. We here at Cassville strive to get our students ready for the real world when they leave our building by having meaningful discussions about what life after high school looks like. We look at expenses and how much things cost. We look at budgets and how to be a "good" saver and spender of money. We also look at, in my opinion this is by far the most important aspect, but how to be a kind and caring human being. That's what the world needs more of, and we try to get our students to understand that kindness will get you very far in life.

Independent Living Resources has multiple programs, we offer 5 core services. I am a Community Health Worker at the agency and work with consumers who are high ER utilizers, and Pregnant families with history of substance use. As a community health worker my role is to connect people to resources in La Crosse County and help them navigate the system. We work with them in a holistic approach and help bridge the gaps in services. Community health workers work with consumers to find solutions to their barriers. Something unique ILR uses is peer support in their services which means that most people that work for the organization have lived experience and use that experience to help others
