Our Pastor - Dava Hensley

Pastor Dava Hensley became the pastor of First Church of the Brethren – Roanoke in 2006. She was licensed into the ministry in December, 2002 and ordained into the ministry of the Church of the Brethren in November, 2009. Pastor Dava is a native of Eden, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in psychology and furthered her education at Bethany Theological Seminary graduating in May, 2009 with a Master of Divinity degree. She is also a graduate of the Christian Growth Institute in preparation for the ministry.

In addition to her work as a pastor, she was a social worker in Mental Health for Rockingham County , North Carolina for 16 years.

Pastor Dava is twice widowed. She has a son, Josh, who lives in New York and 5 grandchildren, Danny, Cassidy, Riley, Rose, and Kayleigh.

When she has time, Pastor Dava loves to golf, read, cook, travel, and go to the movies. She is a University of North Carolina fan.
