The Davies High School Choir Council will have an integral part in establishing the highest standard of choral excellence during this inaugural school year. All members are called to strive for artistic excellence and personal leadership. Choir Council Applications will be accepted in early September of this academic year.
President: (Concert Choir or Vivace)
• Assist and advise Mr. Behm on a daily basis, with communication, clerical, student, and related music items
• Preside at, plan, and communicate Choir Council Meetings
• Update Choir Board with announcements and handouts
• Write thank you notes to anyone who helps the choir in any way
• Lead other Choir Officers in making sure their duties are carried out
• Assemble and supervise committees for special projects
• Assist the upkeep of the Choir Room
• Promote and represent the Davies Choirs throughout the school and community
• Middle school and Elementary liaison: Periodically make contact with the feeding middle and elementary schools, inviting them to all of choir functions.
Vice President: (Concert Choir or Vivace)
• Oversee the preparation and teardown of choir activities and performances
• Assist in organizing robe racks and stoles
• Work/communicate with the President on design and communication of projects
• Post accomplishments and special announcements on the choir board
• Maintain the cleanliness of the Choir Room, assist in organization and cleanup .
• Promote and represent the Davies Choirs throughout the school and community
• Assemble and supervise committees for special projects
• Assist and advise, daily, with clerical and related music items
• Attend all choir council meetings
Secretary/Representative: (One from each choir: Concert, Mixed, Women's, and Vivace)
• Communicates effortlessly with all members of their specific choir
• Takes concert and dress rehearsal attendance by creating concert check‐in lists
• Coordinates and delivers daily/weekly announcements during the choir period
• Takes minutes at Choir Council meetings; posts minutes on Choir Board
• Takes attendance at Choir Council meetings, attend all meetings
• Assign, record, and post music folder numbers- done with the Librarian
• Assist organizing, record and post Robe Numbers
Reporter/Historian: (Concert Choir or Vivace)
• Take pictures at all choir events
• Write choir announcements, Davies school newspaper write-ups
• Compile a scrapbook of programs, pictures, timeline, events, newspaper articles, awards, etc.
• Design, collect, and organize a slide show for the end-of-year concert
• Produce publicity and communications for choral events: make signs and posters for choral events
as it is relevant to each activity
• Attend all choir council meetings
Librarian: (can be from any choir-must have exceptional organizational skills)
• Process and File of all new music: Stamp, number, record, organize, and file
• Process and File currently used repertoire
• Assign, record, and post music folder numbers (work with choir secretaries)
• Assign and submit obligations for missing choir music/portfolios
• Repair damaged music
• Assist with Concert Program name checklist/cross reference
• Maintain physical appearance and cleanliness of music library
• Attend all choir council meetings
Student Accompanist: (Davies Concert Choir, Davies Chorale, Vivace and Davies Women’s Choir)
• Serve as rehearsal pianist on selected repertoire
• Perform piano accompaniment of selected repertoire
• Assist and perform selected choral warm ups on the piano
• Assist in rehearsal by playing voice parts on the piano
• Assist section leaders by playing voice parts during sectionals
• Invited to attend all choir council meetings
Section Leaders: (Several from each choir: Concert, Mixed, Women's, and Vivace)
• Lead a mini-‐rehearsal (10-15 minutes) with your specific voice section
• Serve as a positive and affirming rehearsal leader
• Effortlessly know your own voice part for each piece of repertoire
• Play some/minimal piano; able to lead a successful sectional
• Display strong personal musicianship
• Communicate with Mr. Behm, daily, regarding the ensemble’s repertoire needs, concerns, and understanding
• Boost morale and positive spirit within the section
• Invited to attend all choir council meetings
