Afterschool programs have long influenced students’ personal development and supported their social and emotional growth. Here at the Exeter Afterschool Program we embrace STEM as an integral part of its educational offerings.
STEM learning experiences excite and sustain interest, build real skills, as well as help youth connect STEM to their lives and communities.
What is STEM education? STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach.
In addition to STEM, we do literacy, health & fitness, Character Education, multicultural & diversity, arts & crafts, community service, & technology activities. We strive to make the activities fun & engaging & NOT duplicate the regular classroom setting. We also provide five Family Activity Nights for students & ASP families, four Saturday Schools for students failing or needing help, & three Adult Education Classes for parents/guardians of enrolled students. Our goal is to enhance student's understanding of academic & non-academic skills that will make them happy, productive members of society in the future while helping working families to keep students safe during non-school hours!
