Who is Alexander Hamilton?

Impressed with Hamilton’s writing and speaking abilities, the people on the island raised money for him to obtain an education in America.

3. Assisted George Washington in the Revolution.
Led the battle against the British in Yorktown, VA in 1781.
4. Co-Founded the First Bank in North America.

5. Married Elizabeth [Eliza] Schuyler [daughter of a general].
Had 8 kids together.

Given that title when Washington became President.

During that time, he had an affair. This affair was considered the first political sex scandal of the US.

Hamilton ruined his chances of winning governorship of NY.
Refusal to apologize led to a duel in New Jersey. Both rowed across the Hudson from Manhattan. Hamilton’s shot hit a tree. Burr’s shot hit Hamilton in the lower abdomen. He died the next day.
