Timely completion of homework benefits your learning in multiple ways: you are able to confirm that you understand a concept (or not); you are able to practice the skills to build accuracy, speed and confidence; you are able to strengthen your memory of key ideas; you are able to connect new ideas from today’s lesson with previous ideas.
Use these problems and the posted solutions wisely. If you find that you don’t understand a concept, talk with a classmate, a teacher, a parent or guardian, or me as soon as possible. If you find that you’re taking a long time to complete problems, talk with me so we can find ways to streamline your process. If you find that you have trouble remembering things for a test or quiz, build yourself multiple kinds of memories (talk through a problem out loud – speaking and hearing are different kinds of sensations that might be easier to retrieve than if you only rely on what you see or write). Actively ask yourself how last night’s homework fits with the new problems we explore during class each day. Our mathematical goal is to make the mathematics make sense so you can use it efficiently.
