1) Get all the filled in bubble sheets as well as two blank bubble sheet which all should be printed using the same device
Note: These instructions were written to coincide the HP scanner located in the first floor admin area of EBU II
2) Select email and enter your email address, also in the bottom left corner under color scanning change from auto-detect to grayscale
3) Click Email options tab
4) Select .TIFF
5) Uncheck the box that says single page for each file (This won't work if auto detect color is still on)
6) Hit the big green button, make sure the energy saver button is off
6) Scan the blank bubble sheet first as a separate file. This will be your template file. Make sure to scan all forms with the same device for optimal similarity.
7) Bubble in the remaining blank sheet with the correct answers. This will serve as your answer sheet.
8) Pile the filled in bubble sheets with the answer key on top and place in scanner.
9) Follow the steps above to select the file format to ensure they are the same
10) Either save the files to a thumb drive or eMail them using the machine.
11) Move to the computer with OMR software on the third floor of EBU II room 336
12) Open Remark Office OMR 8
13) Create new form template as follows:
14) Select Read from image, Use the blank bubble sheet that you scanned previously:
15) Define the PID region as (grid, textual, column oriented, labels 0-9):
16) Next, On the same window, click "Region item properties" (located on the left hand side of image above). Make sure this region identifies the student. Check the mark respondent ID box.
17) Define multiple choice regions:
18) Finished template should look something like this:
19) Save this template.
20) With this template still open select read image from file:
21) Now select the TIFF scans of the filled in bubble sheets:
22) Double check yellow boxes to make sure everything scanned correctly. Fix PIDS and double check all students are identified properly:
23) Go to analysis tab and select easy grade (it uses the first scan as the answer key)
24) Check the student response report. If an entire column is RED double check that the answer in the key is correct and read correctly:
25) The student statistics report is a good way for TAs to input scores. Save it as a .xls.
26) Have a discussion with Professor Delson about what kind of Statistics reports he would like for his own analysis.
