Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Force Test Fixture
Finalizing the mount variations for different SLK heads
Base Plate
Design and Analysis - work in progress
DUT
Adapter being altered
Temperature Controller
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Found Temperature Controller that Team 2 was using
Would work for a Pt-100 RTD
Clarified essential questions and concerns with sponsor
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Sam
Cartridge Heater Mounting - Heat Sink Compound
RTD Mounting - RTV
Look into PLCs vs Temperature Controllers
Thermal switches vs relays in controllers
Damon
Creating new design iteration for DUT mount
Look into possible rectangular type RTD's that would work with our requirements
Daniel
Improve DUT Mounts with newer iterations
Looking into cylindrical type RTD's
Richard
Finalize 3 force adapter designs
Ready to be sent out for fabrication if needed
Sponsor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Don't custom make captive screws (Cost)
Look for off the shelf ones
Standard Factor of Safety should be at least 3
For the threads of standoffs on baseplate
M8 threads
CAD Models should be kept nominal in assembly
The part drawings should include the tolerances
DUT
x16 head gives 28 lb.
x1 and x2 heads give 87 lb.
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
Perform heat analysis for DUT
Show that if the heater is positioned higher that there will be hotspots, and if the heater is positioned lower, the time taken to heat will be too long
Look into ANSI Fits
For Tolerances for different pins and screws
Research design guidelines for Heaters and RTDs in regards to thermal expansion
The hole in which the components sit will expand under heating; will this effect the RTV or thermal grease by creating air gaps when thermally expanded?
Thermal expansion from heater block to ultem adapter
Record the thermal non uniformity by a number of degrees

Risks and Areas of Concern
DUT
Safety Risk
Thermal Fuse
Ensure mounting doesn't conduct heat generated from DUT
Don't let the SLK head heat up from generated heat
