156B Week 2
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
ECE team was joined to project and assigned first task to test myoelectrics on Gabby
First working model of finger designed, printed, and actuated!
Accomplishments from Previous Week
Individual components for actuators, sensors, materials & mechanical design completed (Estelle, Erik, Michael, Maris)
Met with ECE team for the first time on (04/07), gave background on project, assigned first tasks with calibrating myoelectrics (Estelle, Michael, Erik, Maris)
Printed first working component of prosthetic hand (cable activated finger) (Erik, Michael)
Myoelectric sensors were ordered (04/07) & to arrive (04/09) (Estelle)
Part 1, Cast, was designed (Estelle) & rough CAD was made from measurements of Gabriella (Maris)
Slides for Design Proposal Presentation written (Estelle, Michael, Maris) & New Gantt Chart created (Maris)
Created a Slack channel for communication between team members of ECE, MAE & total groups (Michael)
Goals for Next Week (list names after each item). Use specific and measurable objectives.
Meet with sponsor/family and discuss design proposal (Estelle, Michael, Erik, Maris)
Test myoelectrics on Gabby's muscle groups and see if this option is viable (ECE team)
Make decision on designing an elbow actuated assist with trade off being easiness to remove/put on solution after meeting with family (Estelle, Michael, Erik, Maris)
Have initial completed hand design CADed (Erik, Maris, Estelle) & Printed (Erik, Michael, Estelle)
Order motors to start testing actuation (Michael)
Start Report sections (Estelle, Michael, Erik, Maris)
Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments (indicate date of comments and if via email or in person)
ECE students may/may not be joining this project (Prof. T)
They sure are! We are now an 8 person team (04/06)
A PCB for electronics involved in solution could be created in 2-3 weeks via Steve Roberts' contact if designed early on (Prof. T)
We let the ECE team know this was an option (04/06)
Check component room for actuators and sensors (Prof. T)
Checked component room with Greg Specht (04/07)-> parts were too big/heavy
Check with Steve Roberts for small actuators (Greg Specht)
Checked with Steve (04/07)-> suggested faulhaber motors and to start shopping
Risks and Areas of Concern
Viability of myoelectrics -> where will they have to be placed? Will they produce a large enough signal to utilize? Can we differentiate between different signals for different modes of actuation
Elbow actuated assist
Resources or Information Required but not Available
Does the ECE team have its own budget? or are they joined to our budget?
For the money received from third party sponsor, can we purchase parts directly without filling paperwork? (as long as we keep receipts?)
Schedule
Myoelectrics test (04/13)
Design proposal to family/sponsor (04/13)
Decide on elbow (04/14)
Design/Print full hand by (04/16)
Budget (list amount spent and amount remaining)
Spent: $49.87
Amount remaining: $1150.13 ?
Progress on Report and Webpage
