Week 10
Overview of Status of Analysis, Design, Fabrication, Tests, etc.
Machining of iron and steel components has been completed and magnetic device has been fully assembled.
Stepper motor, motor driver, LCD screen, have been mounted in acrylic supports
Samples from hand turning the magnetic device showed signs of helical formation and other patterns
This project is DONE.
Accomplishments from Previous Week
· Stepper motor, motor driver, Arduino, and LCD screen have been wired up and are fully functional.
· Acrylics motor and electronics mount have been lasercammed and assembled
· Finished building apparatus
Goals for Next Week
Make samples using the completed apparatus = Michael Porter
Create and compile user/operation manual and safety guidelines = everyone
Finish report
Finish poster

Instructor Comments from Last Meeting and Actions Taken to Address these Comments
· “I want you guys to look into why the magnetic field strength was not the theoretically calculated and simulated 1 Tesla value ” (3-7-12) – Dr. Delson
Actions taken: Due to upcoming deadlines for the project delivery, poster, report, and website, we have been hard-pressed to find time to conduct experiments to determine the cause for the lower magnetic field generation. Also, in the interest of time and funds, we have decided not to remachine the magnetic components out of steel.
Risks and Areas of Concern
· None
Milestones
· Receive 12 V power supply and recall temporary power supply solution (this week 10th)
