The highest risk of construction for the magnetic field generator was the construction of the magnet. Below is a pictoral and video guide of you we were able to safely build the device.
1.
First we secured our neodynium magnet into our aluminum vice. We used aluminum, because of its nonferrous properties. To ceate the vice we secured down one block of aluminum using screws and then using 2 5in screws, we ran those screws through another aluminum block which screwed into the secured block. This allowed to securely hold the magnet while sliding on parts.
2.
Next we then, carefully slid the the iron components onto the magnet As shown in the first video to the left. After sliding the magnets on, using a hammer and rod, we slowly hammered the components into place. Below is also an of us placing on our CNC milled flux path concentrators onto the magnet.
3. After Placing all the compnents together using this method, we present you our magnet!
3. After enjoying the splendor and glory of our magnet, we constructed the scaffolding to hold our frame presented below.
4. Now after creating the device itself, the next goal is to create the motor mount and program the motor controller.
