York Key Club

WHAT IS KEY CLUB?

Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students. Key Club is a student-led organization that teaches leadership through serving others. Members of Key Club participate in community service projects and charity fundraisers in an effort to give back to their schools and communities. All students at York are welcome to join Key Club and become a volunteer.

The York Community High School Key Club was founded in 2005 and has nearly 200 active members. The Club participates in over 50 annual service projects and is directly affiliated with the Elmhurst Kiwanis Club and Kiwanis International.

HOW DO I JOIN KEY CLUB?

Key Club meets Tuesday mornings at 7:10 am in A290 during the school year.

For more information, you can contact any of the student board members below or Ms. Kennedy-Brooks in the English office (A351).

Dues are collected in the fall semester for members seeking official "member in good standing" status. Students who wish to hold an office (leadership position) and/or apply for Key Club/Kiwanis scholarships are required to pay membership dues each year. COMPLETING AND TRACKING SERVICE HOURS

While there is no "hours requirement" for Key Club at York (we just love to help others!), many students use Key Club as an opportunity to earn service hours for National Honor Society, scholarship eligibility, youth groups, scout promotion, etc. Because we do not require a certain amount of volunteer hours from our members, it is the INDIVIDUAL STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO TRACK HIS/HER OWN SERVICE HOURS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. We recommend using the following hours tracker/verification sheet.

Due to the large size of the club and the vast amount of service projects completed throughout the year, it is strongly recommended that students bring their tracker sheets to the events and/or get them signed immediately following their volunteer hours to ensure accurate records.
