It's time to register students for next year's chorus! Any rising 6-8 student can sign-up! We are a non-auditioned chorus. If you are already in chorus, you DO NOT need to do this. Also, if you return the red flyer, you do not have to register on-line.
Chorus is where you learn to sing and read music.
No! Just like you wouldn't go to band already knowing how to play an instrument, Ms. Dye doesn't expect you to know how to sing correctly. She just wants you to work hard!
We do have after-school practices occasionally and a minimum of 3 weekday concerts starting at 7:00 pm throughout the year. All dates will be provided at the start of the school year for the entire year so you can plan accordingly.
Chorus doesn't interfere with other school activities or athletics very much and the coaches are great to work with. If you have any questions, please email Miss Dye adye@elbert.k12.ga.us
Yes. The only costs to the students are the uniforms. We have a t-shirt to wear for informal events and concert attire to wear for formal concerts. The cost is around $75.00. This doesn't have to be paid all at once. There is a payment plan.
We have 2 fundraisers a year to purchase music, registration and transportation cost. Our fall fundraiser is the Poinsettia Sale. We sponsor the spring dance at ECMS for our spring fundraiser.
Yes! Every year we attend a competition called LGPE, which stand for Large Group Performance Evaluation. This is held in Jackson County. You get out of school for the day!
The high school chorus is going to Hawaii in 2022. While you can't go on that trip, we hope to have more trips where we travel to other places in the US (hopefully abroad too)!
Not really. We work with coaches so students can attend both after-school rehearsal and practices. Usually we do half rehearsal and half practice.
For concerts, our understood rules are games are more important than rehearsals, and performances are more important than practices. If there is a game and concert on the same night, we try to work together to get students back to school in time for the concert. I have had a student wear her soccer uniform under her dress for a concert!
YES! We encourage it! There are major benefits to being in both chorus and band. There is only one exception. If your child is in the Challenge Program he/she can only be in one music class.
Of course! It's 1 of 2 classes you get to choose as a connections class (the other is band). So there is a high chance you'll be in the class with your friends, especially if a group of you sign up together. And most days, Ms. Dye is kinda funny...at least she thinks she is.
If you stay in chorus until 8th grade, you get to choose the theme and decorate for the spring dance. You also get to help decide the music for the spring concert!
