Attention Existing NHS members!

Attendance at NHS meetings is required!

The first "meeting" was conducted virtually.  Refer to the email sent to your school email address on 9/15/23. 

Your payment of NHS Dues in the amount of  $30 is due by Friday, February 2, 2024.   Dues may be paid in cash or check and given to Mr. Farmer (Room 217).  Please make checks out to "EGRHS".  The bank will not accept checks made out to "NHS".  Dues are only collected from NHS members during their senior year.  No dues payments from juniors are required.

Information for Applicants

Invitations to juniors and seniors who qualify for membership (based on weighted GPA of 3.75 or higher) were sent via Skyward on September 27, 2023.  The deadline for application submission is January 19, 2024 @ 11:00 pm.  Please see the section below for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).   Dues are only collected from NHS members during their senior year.  No dues payments from juniors are required.

This summarizes much of what will be (was) presented at the Informational Meeting about the Application Process.

What counts as a Service / Leadership activity?

 

Almost any activity which is school or non-school related in which you’ve spent at least 10 hours since the beginning of your freshman year.  This includes any co-curricular activity which is not connected to a class, including clubs, drama, music and athletics.  Some examples include:

 

         Spanish Club (as long as you spent at least 10 hours in meetings and activities)

         Fall Play

         Swim Team (you may count each season separately)

         Youth Group (again, you must meet the 10 hour minimum)

         Summer Missions Trip

 

 

What does not count as a Service / Leadership activity?

 

         Attending 2 meetings of a club (does not meet the 10 hour minimum)

         Paid employment (per NHS rules, all activities must be non-compensated)

         Activities in which you plan to participate in the future (e.g. spring sports next year)

 

 

Mr. Farmer is the NHS Adviser.  Can I still use him as one of my teacher references?

 

         Absolutely, as long as you had him for at least a semester.

 

 

When will I find out if I’ve been accepted?

 

 Formal invitations to join are usually sent out or delivered the last week of February.  Don’t worry!  As long as you’ve met all requirements, submitted your application materials and have no outstanding disciplinary actions on your school record, you will be invited to join NHS!

 

When is the Induction Ceremony this school year?

 

The Induction Ceremony is currently scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 7:00 pm in the PAC.
