7th Grade Social Studies

Social Studies Curriculum We will take the first trimester of the school year to study different cultures from the Middle Ages, including: Japan, Europe and Islamic cultures. The next two trimesters of the year will focus on Washington State history. Here we will become familiar with the geography, people, culture and history of our fabulous state.

12/12/19 - Starting this week I have been updating Schoology. Please check there in the future for all updates.

12/3/19 - Finish video. Start reading Ch. 1 lesson 2. Study regions and get ready for quiz on Wednesday.

12/2/19 - Finish lesson 1 and taking notes. Find 10 examples each of Physical and Cultural Characteristics in the video "Over Washington."

11/26/19 - Start reading ch. 1 lesson 1 and taking notes.

11/25/19 - Online map of "Places I love in Washington," and pre-test of Washington map.

11/20/19 - Last day to work on essay in class. Due by end of day.

11/19/19 - Continue drafting essay.

11/18/19 - Continue drafting essay.

11/15/19 - Start drafting essay to compare and contrast Medieval Japan and Europe. Due no later than November 20th.

11/14/19 - Finish watching "The Life of the Noble." Go over Compare/ Contrast Essay outline and begin gathering evidence.

11/13/19 - Complete Ch. 9 Review Questions 1-14 minus #12. Start "The Life of the Noble."

11/12/19 - Read Ch. 9 lesson 3 and complete graphic organizer in our notebooks.

11/4/19 - Finish online scavenger hunt. If not completed in class, it becomes homework. A taste of the European Middle Ages.

11/1/19 - Online scavenger hunt on the Middle Ages - located in your social studies folder.

10/31/19 - Film - life in the Middle Ages- the role of the doctor.

10/30/19 - Finish reading ch. 9 lesson 1 with notes. Create social structure pyramid in notebook.

10/29/19 - Start reading Ch. 9 lesson 1 - take notes on key terms and geography of Europe.

10/28/19 - Finish Map of Europe - Due Tuesday at the start of class.

10/25/19 - Work on map.

10/24/19 - Read, "Becoming a Knight" and then write friendly letter from a knight in training. Start on Map of Europe in the Middle Ages.

10/23/19 - Finish up test. Quick write and discussion on the European Middle Ages.

10/22/19 - Ch. 8 test.

10/21/19 - Ch. 8 review - vocabulary activity in small groups. Ch. 8 test tomorrow!

10/18/19 - Read Ch. 8 Lesson 3 and answer review questions 1-7.

10/17/19 - Pass back papers/ projects. Finish Samurai Sword doc.

10/4/19 - Create a summary for each of the three styles of theater we viewed yesterday. When finished, create a Noh or Kabuki style mask to accompany your summaries.

10/2/19 - Finish pyramid of Feudal Japan.

10/1/19 - Discuss social structure in Feudal Japan. Start creating visual pyramid to explain this structure.
