Timeline/AgendaOur youth group will start at the normal time of 7:30. We will begin with a game or two and then go right into our annual gift exchange.
We ask everyone to bring a wrapped $10 gender neutral gift. We will bring a few extras, so don't feel like you cannot come/participate because you didn't prepare a gift. We would much rather have more people.These activities go on until roughly 9:30.

  • For those who don't know, Operation Christmas Child is an outreach we do where we pack Christmas present care packages for the kids in need. Shoe boxes are available in WH3. The deadline is 11/20 at 12pm in WH3.
  • Yay Elsa's getting baptized on 12/4 during the December All Church Sacraments, so be sure to come and support her. 
  •  This year our annual Christmas Lock in is scheduled to happen on 12/9.  For those who don't know, it's basically a sleepover at church from Friday to Saturday and we play broomball (basically ice hockey with no skates) and do a gift exchange. Bring your friends, a $10 gift and $5 for broomball. More details will come.
  • Retreat is scheduled to happen on President's Day weekend (Friday-Monday), so save the date (2/17-20). We haven't had one in a long time so everyone should definitely go.

We will resume meeting in-person for Youth Group and EM Service the following week as it would have been 14 days since Canaan's interaction with the member who had tested positive for COVID. For those who have yet to be vaccinated, the CDC recommends that you/your child self-quarantine and monitor your health. For those who have been vaccinated, I recommend getting tested if possible (not mandatory) just to be sure as you can still carry the virus with no symptoms and to continue monitoring your health (check for symptoms).If there are any questions, please contact both our EM elders Ed (ed.chen@ecanaan.org) and John (john.tang@ecanaan.org). or myself (nathaniel.fong@ecanaan.org).This Friday we will still have a fun and fellowship game night but simply online. Hi everyone,
I am forwarding you an email drafted by the English ministry team, but it definitely concerns all of the youth (especially those that attended either on Friday Night or Sunday in person). 
Dear Canaan English Ministry (EM) and Youth,
We wanted to inform you that there were two members who attended our EM service on Sunday, 7/11, and Friday night youth group, 7/9, who have had three degrees of separation to a positive COVID test.  Since 7/10, Person Y has had two negative COVID tests.  Persons A, B, C show no symptoms. 
IMG_1260.jpgEven though the risk is low for COVID transmission in this situation, we wanted to notify you so that you can monitor yourself and your family for COVID symptoms.
Out of an abundance of caution, the English Leadership Team (ELT), P. Jamie and P. Nathaniel have decided that the upcoming Youth Group on 7/16 and EM Service on 7/18 will be held online only.  We will resume meeting in-person for Youth Group and EM Service the following week as it would have been 14 days since Canaan's interaction with Person B and C.

Hi Church Family,
It's been a while. A lot has a changed, hopefully for the better. As most of you are probably aware, we are steadily becoming more and more reopen here in California. This means that we will also be reopening church/youth group. This is a new venture for all of us. We hope to navigate through this together as we seek to meet in person once again soon.There is little set in stone right now, but our hopes is that we will start partially meeting in person at the beginning of June. Please pray for us as we plan this reopening.
Announcements
We will have parent meeting on Tuesday, May 11th at 8:30pm - Zoom meeting link We would like to introduce our new counselors and then discuss what we have been focusing on this last quarter and will continue to focus on in the upcoming year. We will also talk about our plans to reopen and discuss together how to best approach this as the youth's involvement can only go as far as the parents are willing. We are hoping to also do an in person beach trip this Summer on July 10th with another church that we usually go to retreat with. This of course is also not set in stone as we don't know what things will look like in 2-3 months from now but we hope to have more in person fellowship by this time.We will have 6th grade promotion Sunday soon!

  • Christmas Gift Exchange Today Exchange @Church, 4PM-7PM and 12/27 Opening Gifts during Sunday school
  • We're going to be doing a gift exchange where youth can drop off a gift around $10-$20 and pick up a gift. DO NOT OPEN THE GIFT until Sunday 12/27 where we will open them together. I will be at church on Saturday 12/26 from 4PM-7PM to have the lobby open for the exchange.
