Notice of Board Vacancy

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the East Amwell Township Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a seat on the Board that became vacant upon the resignation of Charles Miller, effective June 1, 2024. The successful candidate shall serve as a Board member from the date of appointment for a term of approximately six (6) months, ending immediately before the organization meeting that will be held in the first week of January 2025.  Individuals interested in applying for this vacancy should forward a letter of interest and their résumé or qualifications to the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Heidi Gara, at the East Amwell Board of Education, 43 Wertsville Road, Ringoes, New Jersey 08551, or via e-mail at hgara@eastamwell.org. Applicants must submit their letters of interest and accompanying documents no later than the close of business on May 31, 2024 to be eligible for consideration.  

Applicants should be aware that as of the time of the appointment, a member of the board of education must: (1) be at least 18 years old; (2) a registered voter; (3) a United States citizen; (4) be able to read and write English; (5) a resident of the East Amwell Township for at least one year immediately preceding the appointment; (6) not be a disqualified voter; and (7) not be convicted of any crimes or offenses enumerated in N.J.S.A. 18A:12-1. 

In accordance with Board Policy 0143, the Board expects to conduct interviews of the candidates that shall take place in public, during the Board’s June 11, 2024 public meeting, which will be held at 7:00 pm at the East Amwell School, 43 Wertsville Road, Ringoes, New Jersey.  The Board expects that after deliberating over the candidates’ qualifications in executive session, it shall make a decision and appoint a candidate at that time, during the public portion of the meeting.
