Welcome to East Haven High School! The 2014-2015 school year promises to be an exciting year! At EHHS, we are proud of the school community we are building. Our number one priority is to create a safe learning environment within our school community, where we believe all of our students have the opportunity to learn and grow from an academic, social and emotional perspective. Students have the opportunity to challenge themselves with rigorous coursework, explore new interests with our variety of rich elective courses, and participate in clubs and activities that strengthen their connection to our school community. Our goal is to empower students to take ownership of their learning so that they can achieve all of the goals that they set for themselves. We encourage parents and families to become a partner in the education of our students, and welcome any and all input in an effort to improve the quality of teaching and learning in our building. I look forward to continuing to work with everyone in our school community to make East Haven High School an institution we can all be proud of!

Our school's core values and beliefs are to meet the needs of all students by empowering them to achieve their goals. We strive to provide a variety of opportunities for students to gain experiences and explore ideas to better understand themselves and their role in an ever-changing world. To achieve our mission, we encourage active involvement and communication among school, family, and community.

  • Capstone Parent Survey

The Capstone Experience is a culminating activity that provides a way for students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they acquired during their secondary school years. It engages students in a project/experience that focuses on an interest, career path or academic pursuit that synthesizes classroom study and real-world perspective.

The Class of 2017 will be the first graduating class to participate in this .5 credit Capstone Experience. Each student will enroll in a half year course either in the spring of their junior year or the fall of their senior year. Students will be asked to demonstrate their ability to apply key knowledge and skills by planning, completing and presenting a culminating project linked to one or more areas of personal interest and the individual's Student Success Plan.

As we work to develop the structure of this course, we welcome your feedback. Please follow this link to complete a brief survey regarding the Capstone Experience. Thank you.

  • 84-Hour Film Challenge - "The Lift"
The East Haven HS Creative Media Club students recently completed an original short film, "The Lift", http://youtu.be/WvqQsjZueuMwhich they have entered in the 2014 Fall 84 Hour Film Challenge. This state-wide contest challenges CT high school students to complete films within a 3-day window, and these films must include particular elements that are only released to participating schools on the morning the challenge begins.

This year, these required elements included a purple prop, a Rubik's Cube that dramatically changes a scene, a train, an exterior shot, an interior shot,
a "worm's eye view" shot, a production company logo and an extreme close up. Teams also received a list of three possible characters and four lines of dialogue. Each team had to select ONE, and include it in their film. The EHHS students chose the character Cody, who has to make a final call, and the line "That was great. My image of you is totally blown."

All of the remaining creative aspects (the script, shots, lighting, edits, transitions, sound effects and musical score) were completed during the 84 hour window. This is the 6th consecutive year that the EHHS media students have completed a film for the challenge. They have won the first place award in this category twice, both times at the CT Student Film Festival. Previous films can be seen on the club You Tube page, at https://www.youtube.com/user/EHHSMediaClub .
