My name is Annette Hintz and I am your students’ 2nd Grade teacher. I am very happy and honored to be a part of the staff here at Thompson Ranch Elementary School. I am especially honored to be a part of your child’s education! A child’s development and academic growth are amazing processes and quite a miracle. Remember to practice:
Reading aloud every evening for 30 minutes so that we can get to our 87 words a minute.
Practice telling someone what the story is about after you have read it. This increases comprehension, oral vocabulary, speaking and critical thinking!
Practice writing about what you read. This increases comprehension as well as improves reading and writing.
Count to 100 by 1's, 2's 5's, 10's
Telling time on an analog clock
Counting money, using quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. Learning how to start with the largest value coin first, then counting up by 10's, 5's or 1's.
Practice adding and subtracting with regrouping, writing numbers in expanded notation like:
538 = 500 + 30 + 8
Then you are on your way to being a super star!
