Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome back to Willow Canyon High School! My name is Mr. Schilling, and I will be teaching your student geometry this year. This is my 24th year of teaching math classes, having become a teacher through the US Army’s Troops To Teachers Program. I am originally from Ohio, and I moved out to the Kingman area in 2005. This is my ninth year here in Dysart. I have five sons, ages 14 to 22, and a stepson, 20, so I can empathize with parents about food bills and lack of sleep!

My goal this year is to present a challenging course of study to your student in geometry, either through a physical classroom experience, or through online learning and prepare them for Algebra 3/4 Math classes, and the ACT. This course therefore, will require your student to complete and submit nightly homework assignments, complete and submit notebook assignments, submit quizzes and tests, and view/interact with online programming. It will be a challenging course for students, as this will be fairly quickly paced. Please discuss your students’ assignments with them on a regular basis.

Tutoring is available on a daily basis at 6:30 am every morning. Students have two weeks to make up/retake a quiz or Module Test, and must have completed all assignments prior to testing. Students get one retake, and the retake will replace the previous grade. Late work is accepted up to one week late with a reduction in the grade.

I can be reached by email through the district portal, and by phone after 2:30 pm if you should have any questions, my extension is 4154. Look for a policies and procedures, with materials list from your student on day one. Thanks for your time and efforts on your student’s behalf, and again, Welcome!

Sincerely,

Mr. Schilling, Geometry
