Every 7th and 8th grade student and faculty member are going to participate in a community read. We will all be reading The Bletchley Riddle by Ruta Sepetys and Steve Sheinken.
It's the summer of 1940, and Britain is at war. Jakob Novis and his younger sister Lizzie both shared a love of riddles and puzzles with their mother, who mysteriously disappeared while on a work assignment in Nazi-invaved Poland. Lizzie is determined to find out what happened to their mother, while Jakob is hard at work on his own mission... Cracking the Nazi's Enigma cipher.
The two siblings find themselves living at Bletchley Hall, working in the secretive codebreaking facilities alongside Alan Turing. As the threat of Hitler's invasion looms closer, both Jakob and Lizzie realize that the mystery of their mom's disappearance and the mystery of the Enigma machine could be connected, and that all secrets are revealed eventually.
