Animal Structure & Function Interdisciplinary/Technology Project
The students choose an animal. They had to research to find physical features (Structures) and the functions (adaptions) of the animal by doing research. The research component of this project included students to use critical thinking skills to complete.They were able to collaborate with others in identifying the structures/functions of their animal. From the research, they had to create a expository writing piece that focuses on their animal physical features and how these features help them survive. As an enrichment extension, students that finished their writing and still had time were able to create a Google Slide to showcase their findings. The students were exposed exposed to new Google skills this year and they had to showcase some of these features in their Google slides. With the extension, students had the ability to collaborate with others in their design and help with using key features.
The students had to use and show they knew how to use several Google slides features to create a gingerbread house. They had to use critical thinking skills in how they were going to design it because from their digital design they would use it as a model to create a gingerbread house using a brown paper bag.
