Mrs. Carter Technology/Interdisciplinary 2024-25 Projects
Gail Gibbons Project
The students were given Gail Gibbon's non-fiction books to read and location facts. They had to collect facts on the non-fiction subject their book was able. They then had to type all their facts within a Google Slides file and also practice some of their skills within Google slides that had them inserting images, adding labels, and some formatting. Once they finished their Google Slides, the teacher printed out their work. The students then had to display their work in a creative way on a three-fold poster board.
Wax Museum Biography Technology/Interdisciplinary Project
The students were given a choice on a person to learn about. They were given a book on that person and had to read the book then collect and write down key facts on the individual. This created a home to school connection because the students were given the task to work at home in in reading the book and finding some of their facts. Once they finished their facts and their organized edited, they were able to create an end product within Google Slides to showcase their research. The students then dressed up as their individual they researched on and became a wax figure within a wax museum held at the school. Parents were able to walk by them and the student would give them a fact. This helped students with their communication and presentation skills as well.
The students would do writing in their classroom or bring in an orgainzer with content to use to write a journal entry. We did this for several weeks. This project went through the year so you can see how their writing progressed. With this project, students worked on various Google Slide skills, keyboarding skills, and exposed to being a Good Digital Citizen. This project also allowed the students to work on grammar and sentence structure that was being taught in the classroom.
