The students learned about using map resources like a compass rose and key to be able move and locate areas on a map. Students had to use their map skills to work on this digital neighborhood map project within Google Slides. Students learned how to move/rotate images to go on the map, insert images base on the direction within the questions. Again, the students had to use map resources such as the compass rose to put the images in the correct location. Students then had to write 1-2 complete sentences that described things on the map.
Fiction Story Creation - Technology/Interdisciplinary focus
After listening to 2 fiction stories about sandcastles the students were asked to write their own story about a sandcastle and dragon. The basic elements that they focused on were creating characters, a setting, and plot (problem & solution). After writing and illustrating their story, they edited for capitals and end punctuation with the teacher. They went into the computer lab to write their stories. They also learned how to change color and fonts on text and how to take a picture of a drawing they did that went along with their story.
