Journal Writing as First Tortilla or Frog Brings RainÂ
The students read about book on Tortilla/Frog brings Rain. As first person they had to write a narrative piece about a character and how through it's eyes what happens. They learned to write within paragraph form and use two hands with their typing.
The students became travel agents for a travel agency promoting the different continents. Each student was given a continent where he or she then used an online database as well as Epic to do some in depth research on the continent for information that would attract others to travel there. The students then wrote up an opinion piece about their continent. Within the final end product, the students had to format the piece to look like a brochure. Below are those students that have finished this project.
The students had to pick two counties where they then had to research about how people that lived in each of the countries celebrated birthdays or New Year's Eve. Once they gathered all the information on these tow countries, they created a Google Slide file to showcase their findings, but also had to include a slide on how their family celebrates birthdays or New Year's Eve.
Students were given a book on a famous person. Their challenge were to read through the book and find key facts that they had to write down within an organizer. The facts they collected will be information they had to use during a live wax museum presentation in front of an audience. The students then had to organize all their information by writing complete sentences within Google slides that they used as a visual for them and their audience during the wax museum presentation.
