Why take AP US Government? Studying government makes all of us more informed citizens and more involved in our communities, State and Nation. As a student choosing to take the 18 week course of AP we ask you to dig deep in looking not only at the foundations of our government and the three branches, but also to have thoughtful conversations surrounding political ideologies and socialization, campaigns and politics, as well as civil rights and civil liberties.
What will we study? The goal of this course is to help you be successful on the AP US Government test so that you can achieve college credit. Coupled with that you will have a chance to study, discuss, and critically analyze our foundations of government, all three branches as well as the role of media in politics and campaigns, politics and civil rights and civil liberties movements. It is a chance to talk about current events and to connect them to what we understand of the role of government as well.
